Gingerbread Houses

Merry Christmas Everyone! This is the new Gingerbread House…each year the boys say this is the best house yet. I do think it is a cute little cottage. But, I am not sure it is the best one. I did do a few things differently this year. I used cocoa in the dough to make part of the dough a chocolate color for the roof and the front door which I feel did add a lot of character to the little cottage.

I made a little snowman out of fondant. This is just plain white fondant. Make the 1st ball the largest put on a toothpick to help him stay together and stand up straight then the 2nd ball a little smaller, then the 3rd is the smallest. I placed a little fondant in the top of hat to keep it in place. For his arms I got some tiny sticks from the yard. I used a Sharpie for his eyes. Toothpick for his nose with orange die and real blush for his cheeks cute isn’t he. A ribbon for his little red scarf.

For the trees I used sugar cones different sizes and green icing to cover. Placed different sizes of red berries for decorations.

This is all the parts in one clean organized location…this is the last of the organization heee heee. I purchased the lit Christmas trees from Target, the little white fence, wreaths and Santa Boots from Hobby Lobby.

This is the view on one side of the house then the other side. The chimney is made of a brown royal icing and rock candy to look like stones. I purchased the stone candy from amazon.

This is a picture of different parts of the assembly of the different sides of the house.

In this picture you can see how I make the curtains for the windows. I roll fondant out, then cut them with a cookie cutter. I then take a icing tip and poke holes in them to make them look a little more real. I made candles to place in the windows as well out of fondant.

I made the walk way out of chocolate necco wafers got them on amazon. I first put down a good bit of white royal icing then lay the broken stones. Then sprinkle the grout with sanding sugar.
See the little pile of wood next to the chimney…they need wood for their fire to keep them warm don’t they? This is made out of cinnamon sticks they are cut all the same size. I take royal icing made out of the same brown color, stick them together then dust with powdered sugar.

House or mission completed….ahhhh! Cute ! Smells so good in here. This years pattern is one of my own. If interested I can include, just make a request.

This is my dear Hannah on the left…this is her beautiful house on the right. Art’t they both {Hannah & her House} the cutest? I wish you could see inside her house it has lights, a Christmas Tree and even a Santa with Gifts so cute! Amazingly Talented young Ladie….love ya!

For recipe of the gingerbread dough and icing here is the link needed. This is a wonderful Christmas Tradition. It is my favorite. Great way to spend some time with someone you love spending quality time together in the Holiday rush…laughing, eating, talking, listening to Christmas music and catching up on the good things in life.

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! May God bless you this Christmas season.
Angie
